Technomar Enhances Fleet Reporting with SERTICA VRS
Technomar Shipping Inc. is a Greece-based ship management company specializing in the operation of containerships and bulk carriers. With a commitment to efficiency and regulatory compliance, Technomar manages a modern fleet, ensuring optimal performance and sustainability in a rapidly evolving maritime industry.

Seamless Rollout Across 100 Vessels
Technomar Shipping Inc. has successfully implemented the SERTICA Vessel Reporting System (VRS) across its fleet of 100 vessels, including the 68 containerships operated by Global Ship Lease. The transition to VRS has transformed reporting and compliance management, delivering customized, user-friendly reporting tools to their operations.
“Rolling out VRS across our fleet has reshaped our approach to reporting. We are now well-equipped not only for our current needs but also for adapting to future regulations.”
Vasileios Chrysinas, Performance Manager at Technomar
The implementation process was not without its challenges. However, through close collaboration with RINA, Technomar was able to optimize system features, resolve initial issues, and create tailored reports to match operational requirements.
“Implementing VRS has been a learning experience, but thanks to close communication with RINA, we have quickly resolved issues, optimized features, and set up the custom reports our teams need,” Chryssa Skiada, Performance Engineer at Technomar.
The Role of Clear Communication
Rolling out a fleet-wide reporting system requires coordination across multiple locations, teams, and stakeholders. Based in Athens, Technomar played a pivotal role in ensuring smooth implementation by fostering transparent communication among teams in Denmark, Italy, and Greece.
“This experience highlighted how crucial clear communication is when implementing a system at scale,” says Vasileios. “Navigating multiple teams across different cultures challenged both us and RINA to adapt and iterate at every step.”
As the first shipping company to adopt SERTICA VRS, Technomar worked closely with RINA to refine the system, ensuring seamless integration into daily operations.
“Our role in shaping SERTICA VRS has given us a reporting system tailored to our fleet while setting an example for the industry.”
Chryssa Skiada, Performance Engineer at Technomar

“We initially chose SERTICA VRS to ensure full compliance with current and future regulations, and we can easily get our data verified,”
Vasileios Chrysinas, Performance Manager at Technomar
Technomar’s tips for implementation
- Set clear objectives and define milestones and goals
- Create a realistic timeline to establish trust between the parties involved in the project
- Allocate extra time for tasks when you go live
- Schedule training sessions at convenient times for users
- Provide hands-on training and practical examples
Staying Ahead of Regulatory Changes
Technomar plans to manage all future reporting within SERTICA VRS, streamlining compliance while ensuring ease of use for crew members.Â
Endorsed by a Recognized Organization (RO) like RINA, VRS guarantees regulatory compliance, accurate data management, and reliable verification. Its adaptability allows Technomar to seamlessly integrate biofuel calculations into their Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) reports, enhancing emissions tracking and sustainability
efforts.
VRS gives the freedom to create your own dashboards tailored to your needs. In the dashboard below you can see some of the key metrics monitored by Technomar. By monitoring distance sailed, fuels consumed and CO2 emissions, they can calculate the CII rating of each vessel.

“We are very pleased with the flexibility and regulatory alignment VRS provides. For example, we recently implemented biofuel calculations in our CII reports, and the setup was intuitive, guiding users through reporting sequences that align naturally with each voyage.”
Chryssa Skiada, Performance Engineer at Technomar
Navigating FuelEU and EU ETS Compliance with SERTICA
Technomar Shipping also partnered with RINA to tackle the complexities of FuelEU Maritime and EU ETS regulations, particularly in the EU’s outermost regions such as the Canary Islands, Madeira, the Azores, and French overseas territories like Réunion and Martinique. These regions have specific regulatory requirements that differ from mainland Europe, adding layers of complexity to compliance efforts.
“The biggest challenge was understanding the differences between FuelEU and EU ETS regulations, especially in the outermost regions. These regulations have distinct enforcement mechanisms, reporting structures, and compliance criteria, making it difficult to align our processes while accounting for exemptions and regional considerations.”
Chris Pallis, Performance Engineer at Technomar.

A Future-Ready Reporting System
By implementing SERTICA VRS, Technomar has significantly enhanced its reporting capabilities, reduced crew workload, and improved compliance efficiency. The ability to customize reports and seamlessly integrate with existing workflows has been a game changer.
“In this challenging transition period of environmental regulations, SERTICA has been our key tool for recording, monitoring, and verifying data. It simplifies reporting for our crew while providing us with a powerful analysis asset. For any company needing to gather, track, and certify environmental data, SERTICA is a high-value investment.”
Dimitrios Maliaritsis, Performance Engineer at Technomar.
With ongoing collaboration between Technomar and RINA, the company remains at the forefront of digital reporting, well-prepared for future regulatory changes and industry demands.
“Our partnership with RINA has been key to the success of this project, and we look forward to further refining our reporting processes with SERTICA VRS.” explains Chryssa Skiada, Performance Engineer at Technomar
